Cafe Quack is an online cafe for kidlit enthusiasts, authors, artists, illustrators and crafters. Cafe Quack is a private, curated Facebook group similar to our previous membership, the Duck Pond.
However, Cafe Quack is less intense, less tightly structured and even more playful and relaxed.

The Cafe Quack Menu
Each month, I host two live sessions (in Zoom): Morning Tea and Afternoon Tea. All members welcome! Sessions recorded for those who can’t make it live.
Please note: Times of sessions may vary according to group preferences.
Morning Tea (First Friday each month. 10.30am – 11.30am)
One hour devoted to creative writing. This is your time to ask questions, learn from me, chat about the publishing industry, your experiences and plans, and also work on your own writing. Time will be set aside to actually write! Sharing encouraged but certainly NOT mandatory! (Zoom session.)
Afternoon Tea (Last Sunday each month. 3pm – 4pm)
One hour devoted to art and craft. Bring along anything you’re working on. Together we will sit, chat and work on our projects. Whether it’s knitting or sewing, drawing, journaling, collage or painting. Whatever you’re making! Bring it along to afternoon tea. (Zoom session.)
Monthly Full Moon Oracle Card Reading, with Jen
In the tradition of the Duck Pond, we have an oracle card reading every month in the Facebook group. These readings are soothing, soulful and very nourishing. We would not give them up, ever! (Facebook group timeline.)
Picture Book Month
Also in the tradition of the Duck Pond, we will allocate one month in 2026 to the celebration (and study) of picture books. This special month will include speakers from the kidlit industry (such as illustrators, authors, publishers).
Times for Picture Book Month are yet to be confirmed. However, our sights are set on May 2026.
KidLit Review 2026
We wind up the year in October with another KidLit Review.
During this month, we gather speakers from the industry and host brilliant sessions in Zoom.
We look back on the year— and forward to new trends and markets.
The exact format and speakers for KLR ’26 are yet to be confirmed.
However, October is set to be an amazing month in Cafe Quack!
